Kum Veerabhadrappa - I am not happy with National award

One of the literary personalities of Kannada literature Kum Veerabhadrappa known for frank observations and sketching stark realities in his works has come out openly on the decision of 59th National awards that were announced yesterday.

The awards are not announced with proper approach he says. Dr Girish Kasaravalli directed ‘Kurmavathara’ that is based on his novel should have received the ‘Swarana Kamala’ instead of ‘Rajat Kamal’ argues Kum Veerabhadrappa. According to writer Dr Girish Kasaravalli is one of the three best directors of World Cinema.

The need of the hour is the Gandhian principles for various problems seen at world level. The philosophy of Gandhiji has to be applied in every field of activity. This aspect is told very sensibly by director Dr Girish Kasaravalli in his work.

The second pertinent argument Kum Veerabhadrappa puts across is that the producers would not come forward to invest on this kind of film. Rs.75 lakhs is spent on this film. Effort should be made to reach the meaningful cinema everywhere opines the writer.
