RNK Prasad Dies at 81

One of the finest cameramen, director and knowledgeable personality RNK Prasad died on Wednesday of heart attack. 82 years RNK Prasad leaves behind his wife Smt Usha Prasad and children Rajiv Prasad and daughter Rathnamala.

An authority in cinematography RNK book on cinematography is recommended for studies in the university level. In his early days RNK handled cameras like Debriel, Newalla, Mitchell.

RNK Prasad born in Bengaluru studied in Bengaluru Central College graduated in science and Diploma in cinematography he studied in Jayachamarajendra polytechnic. He started his career from Premadha Puthri Kannada cinema as cameraman. He was also part of Dr Kamal Hassan film Nayakan, Michael Madhan Kamarajan etc. It was Vijayanagaradha Veeraputra in which father and three sons – RNR, RNJ, RNK and RN Sudarshan worked together. Belli Moda, Mareyadha Hadu, Bale Adrushtavo Adrushta are some of his well known films. He became a director from ‘Naguva Hoovu’.

RNK worked as cameraman for 85 films, three television serial directions, acted in Tamil television serials. He was in four languages as cameraman earned pretty good standing in his profession.   

RNK Prasad was the winner of Life Time Achievement award given in the name of Dr Vishnuvardhana by government of Karnataka in the year 2008-2009.

On 25th of May 2011 this veteran cameraman of Kannada cinema son of doyen of Kannada cinema unforgettable R Nagendra Rao – RNK Prasad was felicitated in a simple and touching function by the Karnataka Cinematographers Association.
