Kollywood Films Norway Film Festival

At a time when Tamil films are breaking barriers and entering new boundaries, there are host of film festivals are being organised across the globe. One such prestigious event is Norway Film Festival.

Vaseegaran, whose brainchild is this festival, will showcase a host of films released last year.

The movies selected for screening at this event include Ko, Vaagai Sooda Vaa, Vengayam, Narthaki, Mahan Kanakku, Aadukalam among others.

Speaking at press meet organised in Chennai on Wednesday, veteran filmmaker Balu Mahendra said, 'I ma happy that Tamil films are now entering Norway. In earlier editions, my students like Vettrimaran and Seenu Ramaswamy had been there and proved their mettle'.

A good film can be made within a commercial format. My films like Moonram Pirai and Marupadiyum were the same. But they are critically-acclaimed even today. I wish such events encoureage our filmmakers to give good films in future, he said.

Producer Kesavan of Narthaki, said, 'it is unfortunate that Narthaki was sent to many film festivals, but could not be selected. I think one needs strong recommendation towards it'.

Ramana, director Arumugham Sampath among others spoke.
