The last over at the CCL-2 final at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Sunday night (12th February 2012) was no less compared to a captivating thriller film.
In one run the Chennai Rhinos retained the CCL trophy and for the second time Karnataka Bulldozers gets the runner up cup.
Batting first Chennai Rhinos were restricted to 161 runs by Karnataka Bulldozers. Vikranth of Chennai Rhinos missed the century by five runs. Losing quick wickets 34 for 3 at one stage Karnataka Bulldozers Dhruv Sharma and Jay Karthik carried the show but in the end it was a win for Chennai Rhinos.
Two balls and two runs was the situation and it was one ball left and one run for the tie. Vikranth without dropping the ball bit the wicket and declared it is run out. According to the new rule book the player is declared out. As the ball was not bowled the jubilant Chennai Rhinos already were asked to bowl the remaining one ball. Rahul facing the last ball could not connect when he lashed his bat. As he called Tarun Chandra for the run it was a run out without a score on the board.
